For small businesses and large companies alike, the lighting commonly found in commercial premises is one of the most vital components. Proper lighting makes a huge difference when it comes to making your business look more professional or improving employee morale.

While there are many types of light bulbs in the market, many people tend to gravitate towards fluorescent lights due to their low cost and wide availability. However, this is not always the best light choice for business premises as it can give off a cold or blue tone. To avoid this, you may want to consider some of the other available light sources that you can choose from, such as compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and HID lamps.

Light Emitting Diode Lamps

The light-emitting diode, commonly known as LED lights look very similar to the standard fluorescent tube. The main difference is that LEDs are an all-solid-state device that is very efficient when it comes to energy use. The fact that LEDs are small and lightweight also makes installation easy. LED lights are available in different colours, the most common ones being white, red and blue.

Compact Fluorescent Lamps

Compact fluorescent lamps are a type of light bulb that uses less energy and last longer than incandescent light bulbs. This makes them the most environmentally friendly option when it comes to lighting your commercial premises. CFLs are available in different colour temperatures ranging from warm to cool. You can choose one type or mix both for a more balanced effect.

A benefit of using CFLs is that they require little maintenance as compared to other types of lights. All that is required is that you periodically check your lamps for any signs of wear and tear. Another major advantage of using CFLs is that they can be used in any type of fixtures such as chandeliers, ceiling lights, floor lights or recessed lighting units. This makes them most appropriate for exterior lighting as well as interior locations with limited power outlets.

HID Lamps

High-intensity discharge lamps, commonly known as HID lamps, resemble fluorescent light bulbs but have a longer lifespan compared to other lighting options. This makes them the most cost-effective choice when it comes to lighting your office premises. Larger HID lamps are also ideal for lighting larger areas such as car parks and warehouses.

If you would like to find out more about choosing the right type of bulb, you should make contact with a local electrician that offers commercial lighting services.
